Section 2AA Championship Game
Varsity 1-2 Park Center. Away game. A well fought game between two very even teams with plenty of fireworks. The first-half ended even at 0-0. Pirates opened the score in second-half with a good penetrating pass on right and back to center for a tap in while defenders taking a nap here. Da Orioles woke up and answered quickly within 5 minutes with a long kick from Dam Hampton to Josh Miller at the six. Josh headed down and Jeremry Andreen wasted no chance and put the ball in the back of the net. The Pirates came back later in a flurry with a shot in front of net to left post and beyond Kevin O'Brion's reach for the winning goal. We had chances to even up the game again but they did not pan out. This has been a great year for Osseo soccer program. Congratulations on being Section 2AA Finalists. Student body, staff members, and parents of Osseo HS are very proud of your accomplishment. Scorers: Jeremy Andreen (2nd-Half).

Section 2AA Semifinals Game
Varsity 0(PK)-0 Armstrong. Away game. Did you see that Ritcher scale hit 6.5 at Armstrong HS? Believe it! It did! Da Orioles played an excellent game in many aspects: strong defense, solid midfield plays to create many quality scoring chances. Kevin O'Brion came up big with a save in the first alternate penalty kicking round and sent us through to Section 2AA Finals. Scorers: None. Penalty Kickers: Martin Brown (0), Michael Green (1), Josh Miller (1), Ryan Sorenson (1), Brian Andreen (1), Eric Gilles(1).

Section 2AA QuaterfinalsGame
Varsity 1(PK)-1 Hopkins. Home game. Da Orioles are advancing to Section 2AA semifinal round. A tight and even game between the teams. In second-half, Da Orioles struck first with Michael Green's penalty kick from a foul on Josh Miller in the box. Josh with a good penetration on right side and defender had to foul him. Hopkins came back with an equalizer on a corner kick with two minutes to time. The two teams weren't able to score in two 10-minute Golden Gold periods and so it went to penalty kicks or kicks from the spot. Orioles made all their kicks and Hopkins missed two. Scorer: Michael Green. Penalty Kickers: Michael Green (1), Josh Miller (1), Ryan Sorenson (1), Brian Andreen (1), (5th kicker not needed).

The conference record is 8-1-0. Congratulations and good luck in Section Playoff. Scorers: Michael Green (1st-Half), Bryan Arbogast (1st-half), Michael Green (2nd-Half).

Varsity 1-0 Blaine. Home game. We are Conference Co-Champions!!!. A well fought game between Orioles and Bengals with many attacks and scoring chances. The score was from a very nice combo setup on the flank started with Michael Stueven and Jeremy Andreen to free up Josh Miller and he delivered a perfect cross for the awaiting header of Michael Green. Beautiful play! Scorers: Michael Green (2nd-Half).

JV 3-0 Blaine. Home game. Well this game has restored the "fun" back into the players. Good passing, well-timed runs, strong defense, and most of all "playing smarter". The overall record for this season is 8-5-1. It's great to see Cody Lawinger scored to cap this successful season! Scorers: Lucas Hoang (1st-Half), Kyle Phillips (1st-Half), Cody Lawinger (2nd-Half).

Varsity 2-1 Anoka. Away game. Da Orioles dominated the 1st-half but can't punch it in for the scores from many good chances that they had except one. Tornadoes came out firing on all eight cyclinders and equalized on the corner kick about two minutes left in regulation time. In overtime, Orioles really putting down the hammer with good attacking and penetration to setup the Josh Miller header goal. Tight defense to thwart off any counter-attacks from Tornadoes. Scorers: Bryan Arbogast (1st-Half), Josh Miller (1st-OT).

JV 0-3 Anoka. Away game. First, as the JV Coach, I would like to apologize to Anoka HS officials, players, and parents for the violent conduct of one of my player during the game. We do not teach or encourage such conduct in playing this game. His action will be dealt with severely. Also I would like to extend my apology to the officials and student body of Osseo HS for this incident as we did not represent the school name in decent sportsmanship manners. I can assure you all that this violent conduct will never again happened under my watch. In total, it was a very ugly game, physically and officially. I don't want to get on the Referees but their inability in controlling the game and lobsided calls may have caused the fire to flame out beyond control. It would be best for all competitive players to have a fair Referees and do not let the game to get out of control. I'm looking forward to our next game with our players in their best competitive and sportsmanship behaviors. Scorers: Open for business.

Varsity 3-0 Apollo (St.Cloud). Away game. A slow start and probably due to the Homecoming events and party the night before. The Orioles came out and dominated the second-half with Michael Green scoring the hat trick. Scorers: Michael Green (3) (2nd-Half). A friendly advice to Martin Brown: Play the Game!

JV 4-0 Apollo (St. Cloud). Away game. Da Boys dominated the game in every aspects. They're thinking much more in how to play "smarter" soccer which will make them much better players in the long run. Scorers: CJ Flowers (1st-Half), Brandon Gilseth (1st-Half), Xico Osuna (2nd-Half), Ethan Kitzman (2nd-Half).

Varsity 1-3 Park Center. Home game. The Orioles up against a quick and fast team and which was rated #8 in the state by Coaches. The two teams were very even in the first half which ended in 0-0. Martin Brown was in checked all game long and couldn't get by tough defense. Midfield-Slashers were holding their own but couldn't help forwards with penetration. There was some defensive miscommunication and hesitation which the Pirates took advantage and put three balls in the back of the net. It's the first loss in the season. Overall this team has gone further than anyone had thought and exceeded many expectations and it hasn't finished...yet. Scorers: Josh Miller (2nd-Half).

JV 4-0 Park Center. Home game. Well this game was the most fun we've had so far this year. I think something to do with the visit from "birdman" himself and got stuck inside the circle for the cheers. About the game, just say Joe Warthen and Cody Lawinger had plenty of chances to score with setup from the team and Balam Osuna playing Keeper had to take No-Doze. Scorers: Lucas Hoang (1st-Half), Kyle Phillips (1st-Half), Lucas Hoang (2nd-Half), Gabe Lustman (2nd-Half).

Varsity 4-1 Maple Grove. Away game. Da Men in Black have stepped up in filling the gap and played a great game. Quick and decisive attacks with speed of play and vision. Da Midfield-Slashers have done their job again in shredding opponent defense for a good four goals. Defense got a good heart and let opponent scored in last 30 seconds. This team is deeper than most people think and perception can be dead wrong. Scorers: Michael Green (2) (1st-Half), Jeremy Andreen (1st-Half), Michael Green (2nd-Half).

JV 0-5 Maple Grove. Away game. Uff da! Up against a more skilled team and for most part of the game they were competitive. These boys have come a long way and I'm very proud of what they have accomplished to date. Be a smarter player in knowing the game. Be a better player in learning the technique. Playing with hearts and desires and you'll have a good team. Although Ole and Sven are not gonna be happy about this loss but they can relax and chew on some more lefse. Oh man I love lefse with butter and lots of sugar...yummmm...lefffffse and I'm even not a Norwegian...heheheh. It's the best! Oh BTW, do not try lutefisk. Scorers: Open for business.

Varsity 2-0 Cretin-Derham Hall. Home game. Dominated the game until the red card issued to Martin Brown for violent conduct in late 1st-Half. 2nd-Half was played with a man down and was able to hold off the attacks. Players need to step up to fill the gap and play smarter with cooler heads. Scorers: Bryan Arbogast(1st-Half), Jeremy Andreen (1st-Half). Red card: Martin Brown (1st-Half). He will miss the next game at Maple Grove.

JV 5-0 Cretin-Derham Hall. Home game. Ethan Kitzman making a splash on his first time back from an injury with a goal and an assist. The assist was a right cross to his brother Greg to score. BTW, he scored with his knee, not foot again. Overall it's getting much better with speed of play and finishing. Scorers: Anton Pugach (1st-Half), Ethan Kitzman (1st-Half), Elijah Folly (2nd-Half), Greg Kitzman (2nd-Half), Balam Osuna (2nd-Half).

Varsity 7-0 Andover. Home game. Another powerful scoring performance by Martin Brown with five goals. Midfield-Slashers shredded Andover midfield and defense systems to create ample scoring chances. Defense is playing without fancy stuff and able to keep Andover at bay. Scorers: Martin Brown (1st-Half), Martin Brown (4) (2nd-Half), Michael Green (2nd-Half), Kyle Phillips (2nd-Half).

JV 3-0 Andover. Away game. Da Boys are having fun now with plenty of chances to score on empty net but not thinking clearly to put it away. Dominated the game on speed of play. Finishing is another matter. Someday we can learn to score on an empty goal. Funny thing that Greg Kitzman has scored more with his heel than facing the goal. Scorers: Kyle Phillips (PK) (1st-Half), Elijah Folly (2nd-Half), Greg Kitzman (2nd-Half).

Good news: Eric scored from 50 yards out on a high looping ball over the Keeper in the first-half. Balam did the same thing around 40 yards out in the second-half! Good shooting by Osseo but failed to find the net more often. Scorers: Eric Olson (1st-Half), Balam Osuna (2nd-Half).

We need your help for the Steak Fry Fundraiser! Osseo Boys Soccer Parents and Players!
Friday, August 27th is our First Annual Steak Fry Fundraiser! We have the potential of making a great deal of money. On August 13th, the Osseo Football Team made $1200! This would go far to help pay for our new uniforms. But we need everyone to work! It is our responsibility to cook the food and serve it, and to clean up afterwards. Here are the links to the shifts that are available: Parent and Youth. We need to begin at 4:30pm. The first shift is 4:30 - 6:45, the second is 6:45 - 9pm, clean up beginning around 8:30. It will be fun! Great way to get to know others on the team. Please call Lori at 763-424-3626 to sign up, or see one of the team parents at the games Thursday afternoon.
We need your help! Thank you! -Lori Andreen, Connie Miller, and Renee Sorensen.
